Have you Hugged Your Website Today?

Do something daily (even if it’s only for five or ten minutes) to improve the search rank of your website. My suggestion is that you do something daily, check for results, be patient, and repeat.

I teach 3 courses that work great alone, but when combined they work the best in bringing customers to you. The first two: Create a Blog in 5 Minutes and Make Money Forever, and Create, Publish and Promote Your Kindle book are pretty “straight forward” and once you’ve done the steps, you continue to “tweak” things a bit, but when you get things in place, you are pretty much “done”. With this third course: Web Site Traffic and Promotion, it’s as Victor Frankenstein exclaimed: “It’s alive, it’s alive!”

Like you, with my websites, I’m constantly working to get (and keep) sites in the upper 3 listings in the search rankings. This may be a constant “battle” for some of us but I share things with readers (and clients I coach) that have worked for me with my three major sites which are all different in what they are meant to do . My own marketing site is a bit of a “catch all” which requires much “offline” marketing: www.terscott.com. The next is the site that is dedicated to selling imprinted promotional items to customers across the USA, in which I am concerned about national and local SEO: www.myimprintrep.com. And the third is a “community informational and local business site” which is all local SEO: www.twinportslife.com. I point these three out because they are very different from each other and require different SEO strategies. You may find some similarities with your site.

There is no easy answer to SEO for any website. Sure there are strategies and tips that you can find anywhere on the web, in my courses, classes, coaching, and right here in this blog; but you need to do the work or hire someone to do it. Things are always changing on the web, in how the search engines find your site and it can seem very elusive at times. My suggestion is that you do something daily, check for results, be patient, and repeat. Return here often and I’ll share the latest tips that you can choose to use if appropriate for your site.

For those who attend my in-class workshops or seminars, I often provide a limited duration of time for email communication to answer your questions. You may consider enrolling in my Virtual/Online course or leave your questions and comments after each of these posts and I’ll reply with my best response.

You may consider becoming a follower at these other related blogs:

This is a “new” blog so you can watch it “grow”*. The premise of this blog is to teach people to not get overwhelmed with SEO and to choose one page on one site every week to make a small improvement and you’ll see great results over time.

This next blog teaches how one can and should translate offline marketing activities to online marketing activities. Since I’ve assisted business people in promoting their businesses prior to the Internet, I’m now known as the “Bricks to Clicks Marketing Consultant” and teach the “new ways” to market but without forgetting the “old”.

And here is another blog for those readers who want “free” training about everything Internet. Here I share tips that would normally be shared only with those who are in my classes and courses but I “spill the beans” on a regular basis to promote the courses. It’s also a newer blog so you’ll experience an education as you watch this one grow too*:

*As mentioned, I teach a Blogging course so I’m always using my blogs as teaching examples for my class attendees.

That’s it for today. I hope you found something of interest. Keep up the good work!

Using CL, Backpage, Your Website and Blogging to Promote your Message

This post may be a bit longer than most but I want you to see exactly what I did to promote my imprinted promotional service using Craigslist, Backpage, my website (www.myimprintrep.com) and blogging (other blogs I have and of course this one).

In my 3 major workshops that I conduct separately, and will probably do a one day combined workshop soon, I always encourage the attendees to use all three to promote their message, business, products, etc. (The courses are available online too: www.terscott.com/getpublished, that’s the Kindle course; www.terscott.com/blogability, the Blogging course; and www.terscott.com/webimprovement is the web design and traffic building course).
Here I will show you exactly what I did to promote my imprinted promotional business using CL, Backpage, the website and blogs.

First I composed this content in Microsoft Word. I do all of my brainstorming and composing in Word because of the ease and also editing tools. Here it is:

Ter Scott promotes MyImprintRep in Duluth Minnesota- Promotional Items “on time, and at the best price” period!

There are several imprinted specialty companies that are in the Twin Ports Area. Many of these businesses are very old and established which have seen the industry change with technology and have embraced it but have also brought with it the experience, and I think “loyalty” to the profession as well. Others are new and in it for the “excitement” and the simply the dollars that can be reaped from selling to a “big” account. Like the older established firms, some of these will be the basis for the future while others will be in for a short while, sell a few things and then “get out”.

I’m a bit of the past and the new. I have been in this business since 1981 and have worked for several distributors and had my own company in the past as well. I still get excited when I see something I’ve created “in print” as a company logo, on a bag or a pen, but even more when I’ve created a distribution plan that was a successful addition to the company marketing mix. You see, I actually understand more about pens as a marketing vehicle than most promotional products counselors do. I’ve taught marketing classes, and continue to “coach” marketing to private individuals helping them make their business successful when using imprinted items in all of their marketing efforts.

Many things come into play when using imprinted items for promotion but two are getting the items on time and at a great price; I do both. I’ve partnered with Newton Manufacturing, a company in high regard in this industry for well over 100 years. They have kept the “old ways” and embraced the “new technology” making it better for the customer; I bring both together.

I invite you to see what I mean. Please visit: www.myimprintrep.com/duluthpromoproducts and try the virtual catalog link; you’ll really like it! Then call me and tell me what you want and I’ll be sure it’s at your door before you need it and at a great price. (We offer the best pricing on BIC pens). Tell me that you’ve read this blog by mentioning code: FREESHIP0413 and I’ll pay for the shipping on your first order!

I look forward to assisting you in the success of your business!

Make it a great day!

Ter Scott!

Terrific. Energizing. Results!

Next, I copied and pasted it into both Craigslist and Backpage. I understand of course that both can be finicky and may be flagged, may have too much content or whatever; that’s the chance one takes. IF you would like to know about how to improve your CL ads, visit my site: www.terscott.com/craigslistcoach.

I then copied and pasted it at the bottom of my webpage: www.myimprintrep.com/duluthpromoproducts. Note that I usually would not have such a long “tag” after the “/” but I really wanted the search engines to find this “locally” to drum up some local business (my other pages attract customers from all over the USA). And of course I optimize this webpage in other ways with meta tags, etc. but I’ll leave that for another post.

And finally, I place it in one of my 100 blogs (I’m known as the “Man of 100 Blogs” on the Internet). But the content has to be relevant to the blog. Here are the blogs I’ve placed the post (note that when you visit them that I’ve changed up the title just a bit, just as I did with the CL ad): http://terscottpromotes.blogspot.com/, and: http://newtonmfg.blogspot.com/, here I modified the title to reflect Newton Manufacturing instead of MyImprintRep.

That’s what I have for you today. Please leave your comments below and contact me if I may be of service to you. Make it a great day!

Ter Scott states: Choose your web words wisely

Recently I created a new webpage on my www.terscott.com site to promote my speaking without a fee to charities and qualified businesses. My point to the reader here is that when you create a page (you can title it for the search engines and people browsing the Internet) but one needs to be careful in the words chosen for the label of the page (the part the follows the / sign, for example: www.terscott.com/speaker).

If you have attended my seminars or in-class workshops (www.terscott.com/blogability, www.terscott.com/getpublished, and www.terscott.com/webimprovement; to name a few) you may have heard me state that we need to be careful in creating our website domain names and our email address (I will be speaking more on those things specifically elsewhere).

So in the same way as when one is creating a domain or email address, I spent some time in creating the web address for my “speaking at no fee” page. First I didn’t want to use the word “free” anyway, and as a professional speaker who usually charges a “fee” to speak, the words “for free” sometimes denotes “cheap”, “nonprofessional” and psychologically gets the reader thinking in the “wrong” direction.

But more importantly, I do not like using the word: “for” in anything on the Internet unless I have a very good reason. It tends to confuse readers. Is it: 4, for, fore, four, etc.? So I did not use “speakforfree” after the “/” mark. I chose to use www.terscott.com/nofeespeaking. You can check the page out for yourself, and of course, you’ll see details on how you can get a finder’s fee for any lead that results in a booking for yours truly!

As I mentioned, I will be offering tips on making your email and website domain addresses more memorable and easier for your customer to remember. I just went through a few in my research to find sites to offer my speaking services. For now, I hope you’ll find this information of interest.

Make it a great day!
