Quick tip gets people to your web page... give information; don't ask to buy, at least right away.

One way to get traffic to your website so you'll have an opportunity to offer good content and either sell them on your way of thinking (informational site) or an actual item (retail site) is by first writing something on your blog that interests them (people find or stumble upon blogs a bit easier than sites and blogs create a relationship instead of outright "selling") and from your blog, gently persuade them to click to go to your site.

In a moment I'll share a link to one of my 100 blogs (I'm known as Ter Scott, the Man of 100 Blogs) where I use this very technique so you can copy it and see how it works for you.

First, let me ask you, which would you rather click (if you want more information and "perhaps" maybe buy something):
1. Click here to buy...
or
2. For more information visit...

I remember what I learned from Tom Hopkins the Sales Champion guy: "People don't like to buy, but they love to own". That's a whole seminar in itself but for now let's just try not to use the word "buy" and use something similar as I did for number 2 above.

At this blog post, you'll see how I chose to use:

rather than "buy pepper spray" or "buy college survival kit".

You can read the entire blog post here; it's short (that's another thing, consider the length of your blog posts; see what works best for you).

As marketers we always need to be thinking before we do things and also testing. This is a "small" thing that I do. Sometimes I do things so quickly and automatically that I don't always catch myself but when I did this I thought that it would be something of interest to my readers. Try it, test it and tell me how it worked.

Make it a great day!
Ter
