To find out what keywords are being used by people who are
seeking out what you are “putting out” which are your products, services,
information, etc. you can simply try to think like your customer, and even
survey your friends and customers. That’s just a start; you can do more. There
are tools out there to help.
There are many to choose from, and you can do a Google
search to find them. The 3 Top KEYWORD DATA TOOLS are Wordtracker, Keyword
Discovery (did you know about that one?), and Google AdWords keyword tool. I am
only going to touch on each of these and you can do your own research for more
information. Each can be a seminar in itself.
Wordtracker:
Shows searches from the past several months of a specific
term from search engines Dogpile and MetaCrawler. Remember that as a “curious
webber*” (my term)when you see something on the web that you don’t recognize,
as soon as you can, do a search and learn what it is. You may even want to save
your brief definitions and comments in a word document for future reference. Go
ahead now and do a quick web search for the terms: MetaCrawler, and Dogpile.
Make a note “action point” as to how you will use this knowledge in your web work.
