Using Key Search Words In Your Photos
Have you ever searched for something on the Internet and used Google Images (or similar) and found an image of what you were looking for? Of course you have. So if you want your images to show up on Google Image be sure to save your photo using a key word within the description.
The generic sample I've used in my live seminars is the word "bananas". Of course there are a zillion that come up. But if you wanted your local community to find your picture your description should be "(your city) bananas"; you get the idea. When saving photos it usually defaults to a number, something like: untitled-5, or whatever. Most people would then change this (some don't though!) to something like "bananas" and their picture gets lost in the sea of "bananas" on the Internet. By choosing a better description name using: Duluth MN Bananas, My Company Name Bananas, etc., you are narrowing it down a bit.
OK, here's a real life example. For one of my opportunity sites/businesses I created a photo to use on Craigslist and similar places on the web (such as my own blogs: www.terscott.com/blogs for example). Now I know that you can link your images on Craigslist to a website so the reader can just click on your photo, but I usually add the web address inside the photo so the reader can see it and type it into the address bar and go from there. So, here's my picture that I'm saving:
Note the wording in the description. I know that people are searching DFI so I have that. And since I know that DFI is about selling "vacations" from home, I almost did not put "vacations" in the phrase. But I stopped and put myself in the minds of those searching and decided to add the word "vacations".
That's it for today. To learn more about my Web Tips Online course, click on the image above. And since I mentioned the DFI opportunity here today, if interested in making large sums of money from home (truly part time) I may still have a need for someone in your area. Just click on that image below.

How to title your pictures and link to your sites and blogs
In one of my seminars I explained that how when you save a
picture as a jpeg to then publish on your blog or website, that however you “title”
it is how it will be labeled when people are doing a web search using Google
Images for example.
So instead of just stating “bananas” for instance when you
have a picture of bananas, you should state the name of your website, or book,
or whatever you wish to promote in the title such as “Northshore Garden’s
Bananas”. (Note that I’m not endorsing Northshore’s bananas, I didn’t take time
to do a search to see if such a business exists; if so, please visit them and
do some business there!).
In a recent blog post where I was explaining how to shorten
links, I created “pictures” of the sites for both tinyurl and Bitly. I saved
those pictures as: “Tinyurl and Ter Scott”
and “Bitly and Ter Scott”
so when
these images eventually make it on the web and people are searching for Tinyurl
and Bitly, in the images part of Google (or other search engines) they might
find these that also include my name linking to my blog post. Cha Ching and
Voila, more more money from more web traffic!
In my earlier blog post (as I’ve also done here) I’ve linked
the pictures to my web improvement course page (just click on the pictures above to see what I mean) on my terscott.com site so that
when people click on the pictures within my blog, they can learn more about creating
web traffic for their websites and blogs.
Make it a great day!
PS. In an earlier blog post, I mentioned how you can shorten long addresses. My blogability (TM) "system" is available now as a Kindle Book. You can click on the picture below to get to Amazon or click on this (long) link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ter%20scott%20blogability. This is a great opportunity to show you that by going to tinyurl.com and placing such a long link into their box and translating it, I got a much smaller link:
TinyURL was created!
The following URL:http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u rl=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ter %20scott%20blogability
has a length of 102 characters and resulted in the following TinyURL which has a length of 26 characters:

Title Your Pictures, Web Pages, and Headings to Bring More Web Traffic
Do you create your own photos, art prints, anything having
to do with an image? If so, be sure to title them correctly for maximum
exposure (and get more traffic to your site, blogs etc.).
In other posts I’ve mentioned how it is important to “label”
and “title” everything in your web pages, blogs etc. I’m speaking of things
such as your web pages, headings of your paragraphs and even photos; and to be
sure you are using “key words” in those labels and titles. Use key words that
people searching on the Internet are actually using, in those labels.
Here I will explain how I’ve labeled a photo and why. Here
is a picture of a business card that I created for one of my customers, Poplar
Auto. As a free plug for them, because they are great people and have wonderful
service, I recommend that you visit their site: www.poplarauto.com. I created a business
card for them that looks like this (plus I gave them a little "link love"; you can click on the photo of the business card and get to their site):
(If you would like graphic design
like this for your business, please go to my site: www.terscott.com and click on the graphic
design tab. If you’d like pricing on business cards and other imprinted items,
please visit: www.myimprintrep.com/123order).
Getting back now to “labeling” things correctly, what I did
was to “name” this business card jpeg: poplar auto Ter Scott Business Cards.
Since I designed the card, I could do this. Now when people search for: Poplar
Auto, Ter Scott, Business Cards and variations of those, they will find that
picture in the “images” section of major search engines, especially when I
repeat the use of the image in my blogs, and sites. My customer is happy too because
every time I place their business card in places like this blog, they are
getting added exposure! I'm happy because people find the picture and visit both my customer and my sites.
As always leave questions/comments after this post. If you are in my Online Web Improvement Course, don't forget that you have your 3 months free email coaching!

How to shrink long web links, Have you ever needed a "shrinker"?
Please, I'm not asking you if you ever needed a "shrink"! I'm sharing today how you can shrink your very long web addresses, etc. using two of my favorites: tinyurl and Bitly.
Have you heard of “Tiny Url”? Sometimes when you are
working on the web, you end up getting these long (sometimes very long) urls;
addresses, or destinations if you will, that you arrive at after clicking them.
My favorite is Tiny Url. I think it was the first out on the web.
Anyway, back to my blog post at “That’s Good Business”, where I was wanting people to click on a link to go to my YouTube video, I could have used the long url address that included the word YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXsxV-DMh7o, but I went to tinyurl.com and created this one: http://tinyurl.com/brvxt8l. You can click on both and see that they will get you to the same destination. There may be times when you want to “hide” your destination such as YouTube, Kindle, etc. for some reason and you can use tinyurl to make this happen. Note however that the words: “tinyurl” will be in your address.
Here’s one of mine
about my screen play that is a bit longer to give you some idea: http://www.terscott.com/winterboydetails.html
. Here it is after using tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/bsapx7e.
Another favorite of mine is: Bitly.com.
Try both “shrinkers” and see which that you like the
best. A fellow blogger, Adam offers his favorite five at: http://lifehacker.com/5068945/five-best-url-shrinkers.
(Shrinking that address with tinyurl, it becomes:
The following URL:
has a length of 53
characters and resulted in the following TinyURL which has a length of 25
characters:
Can you see how "shrinkers" can help you in your websites,
blogs, etc.? You can find ways to use this when you are “hiding” or “disguising”
your sources to your affiliate links, etc.; there really are many ways that you
can use smaller links.
You can see about 50 more alternatives at: http://www.siteslike.com/similar/tinyurl.com
but I’m not sure they are all “shrinkers”. There seems to be some very
beautiful, and also some disturbing pictures on the site as well; “I’m just
saying”.
The best way to understand this article above is to click
on each link; you might even find my blog “That’s Good Business” interesting or
the page on my site that speaks of my screen play: Winter Boy of enough
interest to help me get it in TV by reading it at: http://www.terscott.com/winterboydetails.html.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please
leave them after this post. Also, consider “following by email” so you won’t
miss any posts.

Have you Hugged Your Website Today?
Do something daily (even if it’s only for five or ten minutes)
to improve the search rank of your website. My suggestion is that you do something daily, check for
results, be patient, and repeat.
I teach 3 courses that work great alone, but when combined
they work the best in bringing customers to you. The first two: Create a Blog in 5 Minutes and Make Money Forever, and Create, Publish and Promote Your Kindle book are pretty “straight forward” and once you’ve done the steps, you continue
to “tweak” things a bit, but when you get things in place, you are pretty much “done”.
With this third course: Web Site Traffic and Promotion, it’s as Victor
Frankenstein exclaimed: “It’s alive, it’s alive!”
Like you, with my websites, I’m constantly working to get (and
keep) sites in the upper 3 listings in the search rankings. This may be a
constant “battle” for some of us but I share things with readers (and clients I
coach) that have worked for me with my three major sites which are all
different in what they are meant to do . My own marketing site is a bit of a “catch
all” which requires much “offline” marketing: www.terscott.com.
The next is the site that is dedicated to selling imprinted promotional items
to customers across the USA, in which I am concerned about national and local
SEO: www.myimprintrep.com. And the
third is a “community informational and local business site” which is all local
SEO: www.twinportslife.com. I point
these three out because they are very different from each other and require
different SEO strategies. You may find some similarities with your site.
There is no easy
answer to SEO for any website. Sure there are strategies and tips that you
can find anywhere on the web, in my courses, classes, coaching, and right here
in this blog; but you need to do the work or hire someone to do it. Things are always
changing on the web, in how the search engines find your site and it can seem
very elusive at times. My suggestion is that you do something daily, check for
results, be patient, and repeat. Return here often and I’ll share the latest
tips that you can choose to use if appropriate for your site.
For those who attend my in-class workshops or seminars, I
often provide a limited duration of time for email communication to answer your
questions. You may consider enrolling in my Virtual/Online course or leave your
questions and comments after each of these posts and I’ll reply with my best
response.
You may consider
becoming a follower at these other related blogs:
This is a “new” blog so you can watch it “grow”*. The
premise of this blog is to teach people to not get overwhelmed with SEO and to
choose one page on one site every week to make a small improvement and you’ll
see great results over time.
This next blog teaches how one can and should translate
offline marketing activities to online marketing activities. Since I’ve
assisted business people in promoting their businesses prior to the Internet, I’m
now known as the “Bricks to Clicks Marketing Consultant” and teach the “new
ways” to market but without forgetting the “old”.
And here is another blog for those readers who want “free”
training about everything Internet. Here I share tips that would normally be
shared only with those who are in my classes and courses but I “spill the beans”
on a regular basis to promote the courses. It’s also a newer blog so you’ll
experience an education as you watch this one grow too*:
*As mentioned, I teach a Blogging course so I’m always using
my blogs as teaching examples for my class attendees.
That’s it for today. I hope you found something of interest.
Keep up the good work!

Using CL, Backpage, Your Website and Blogging to Promote your Message
This post may be a bit longer than most but I want you to
see exactly what I did to promote my imprinted promotional service using
Craigslist, Backpage, my website (www.myimprintrep.com)
and blogging (other blogs I have and of course this one).
In my 3 major workshops that I conduct separately, and will
probably do a one day combined workshop soon, I always encourage the attendees
to use all three to promote their message, business, products, etc. (The
courses are available online too: www.terscott.com/getpublished,
that’s the Kindle course; www.terscott.com/blogability,
the Blogging course; and www.terscott.com/webimprovement
is the web design and traffic building course).
Here I will show you exactly
what I did to promote my imprinted promotional business using CL, Backpage, the
website and blogs.
First I composed this content in Microsoft Word. I do all of
my brainstorming and composing in Word because of the ease and also editing
tools. Here it is:
Ter Scott promotes MyImprintRep
in Duluth Minnesota- Promotional Items “on time, and at the best price” period!
There
are several imprinted specialty companies that are in the Twin Ports Area. Many
of these businesses are very old and established which have seen the industry
change with technology and have embraced it but have also brought with it the
experience, and I think “loyalty” to the profession as well. Others are new and
in it for the “excitement” and the simply the dollars that can be reaped from
selling to a “big” account. Like the older established firms, some of these
will be the basis for the future while others will be in for a short while,
sell a few things and then “get out”.
I’m
a bit of the past and the new. I have been in this business since 1981 and have
worked for several distributors and had my own company in the past as well. I
still get excited when I see something I’ve created “in print” as a company
logo, on a bag or a pen, but even more when I’ve created a distribution plan that
was a successful addition to the company marketing mix. You see, I actually
understand more about pens as a marketing vehicle than most promotional
products counselors do. I’ve taught marketing classes, and continue to “coach”
marketing to private individuals helping them make their business successful
when using imprinted items in all of their marketing efforts.
Many
things come into play when using imprinted items for promotion but two are
getting the items on time and at a great price; I do both. I’ve partnered with
Newton Manufacturing, a company in high regard in this industry for well over
100 years. They have kept the “old ways” and embraced the “new technology”
making it better for the customer; I bring both together.
I
invite you to see what I mean. Please visit: www.myimprintrep.com/duluthpromoproducts
and try the virtual catalog link; you’ll really like it! Then call me and tell
me what you want and I’ll be sure it’s at your door before you need it and at a
great price. (We offer the best pricing on BIC pens). Tell me that you’ve read
this blog by mentioning code: FREESHIP0413 and I’ll pay for the shipping on
your first order!
I
look forward to assisting you in the success of your business!
Make
it a great day!
Ter
Scott!
Terrific.
Energizing. Results!
Next, I copied and pasted it into both Craigslist and
Backpage. I understand of course that both can be finicky and may be flagged,
may have too much content or whatever; that’s the chance one takes. IF you
would like to know about how to improve your CL ads, visit my site: www.terscott.com/craigslistcoach.
I then copied and pasted it at the bottom of my webpage: www.myimprintrep.com/duluthpromoproducts.
Note that I usually would not have such a long “tag” after the “/” but I really
wanted the search engines to find this “locally” to drum up some local business
(my other pages attract customers from all over the USA). And of course I
optimize this webpage in other ways with meta tags, etc. but I’ll leave that
for another post.
And finally, I place it in one of my 100 blogs (I’m known as
the “Man of 100 Blogs” on the Internet). But the content has to be relevant to
the blog. Here are the blogs I’ve placed the post (note that when you visit
them that I’ve changed up the title just a bit, just as I did with the CL ad): http://terscottpromotes.blogspot.com/,
and: http://newtonmfg.blogspot.com/,
here I modified the title to reflect Newton Manufacturing instead of
MyImprintRep.
That’s what I have for you today. Please leave your comments
below and contact me if I may be of service to you. Make it a great day!

Ter Scott states: Choose your web words wisely
Recently I created a new webpage on my www.terscott.com site to promote my speaking
without a fee to charities and qualified businesses. My point to the reader
here is that when you create a page (you can title it for the search engines
and people browsing the Internet) but one needs to be careful in the words
chosen for the label of the page (the part the follows the / sign, for example:
www.terscott.com/speaker).
If you have attended my seminars or in-class workshops (www.terscott.com/blogability, www.terscott.com/getpublished,
and www.terscott.com/webimprovement;
to name a few) you may have heard me state that we need to be careful in
creating our website domain names and our email address (I will be speaking
more on those things specifically elsewhere).
So in the same way as when one is creating a domain or email
address, I spent some time in creating the web address for my “speaking at no
fee” page. First I didn’t want to use the word “free” anyway, and as a
professional speaker who usually charges a “fee” to speak, the words “for free”
sometimes denotes “cheap”, “nonprofessional” and psychologically gets the
reader thinking in the “wrong” direction.
But more importantly, I do not like using the word: “for” in
anything on the Internet unless I have a very good reason. It tends to confuse
readers. Is it: 4, for, fore, four, etc.? So I did not use “speakforfree” after
the “/” mark. I chose to use www.terscott.com/nofeespeaking.
You can check the page out for yourself, and of course, you’ll see details on
how you can get a finder’s fee for any lead that results in a booking for yours
truly!
As I mentioned, I will be offering tips on making your email
and website domain addresses more memorable and easier for your customer to
remember. I just went through a few in my research to find sites to offer my
speaking services. For now, I hope you’ll find this information of interest.
Make it a great day!

Blogger, Craigslist, and Search Engine Key Phrases
Here’s another reason why I like Blogger for my blog system
over others. I’ve mentioned this before but it bears repeating. Google owns
Blogger and I believe that they favor Blogger over others; just my opinion.
Recently I placed a Craigslist ad using a “hidden” web
address in the ad:
Stay at home money?
Additional Income for your small business?
Call local businesses,
lead them to our site page: MyImprintRep DOT COM/ 123order (remove spaces, and
modify to go there), they order from us (we do all the accounting and
maintaining of the account) and we split our commission 50/50!
If you are a stay at
home mom, a small ad or graphic design business, photographer, or have a
similar situation, this could be an awesome way to make great weekly money. See
the details!
MyImprintRep DOT COM/

We are looking for
qualified people in your area. Reply today!
After checking to see that the ad published correctly, I
copied and pasted the hidden address (MyImprintRep
DOT COM/ promofinder5050) into my address bar, where I have Google as my default
search and, Voila! It went directly to my blog post:
Just thought you’d like to see it and perhaps this can help
you in your web improvement efforts.

Craigslist Ads and Meta Tags
In my WEBSITE, IMPROVE & PROMOTE class, quite often I’m
asked about Meta tags and how to effectively use them with your website or blog.
I’m going to share a very practical tip because I was placing a Craigslist ad
and a thought came to me as what could be of great use for my readers.
If you’ve done any ads at all in Craigslist, you may know
that “they” can be a bit finicky about how you enter you ad. If it’s repeated
with similar words in different ads, or if you use website addresses, “they” may
say that you ad is listed and even give you a link to see it, but it has not
been made available for the eyes of the world (OK, the Craigslist world anyway)
to see; just yours! These are called Ghost Ads and you can find more details
about Ghost Ads (if not available at the time you are reading this, it will be
soon) at: www.terscott.com/ghostads.
CRAIGSLIST TIP: A way to “get around” using your actual
website address in an ad would be to abbreviate it, but you run the risk of
someone not really knowing how to “put the pieces together”. No worries, though
because if the reader of the ad is truly interested, they will click “reply” to
your ad and you can email them the full link in your response; they just can go
directly to your link in the ad; which may be a time saver for you because then
you’ll only get those who are really interested in your offer.
Here’s an actual Craigslist ad that I recently placed to
attract people who might be interested in sharing my commission when referring
businesses to my Promotional Products and I.D. site: www.MyImprintRep.com/promofinder5050:
Stay at home money?
Additional Income for your small business?
Call local businesses,
lead them to our site page: MyImprintRep
DOT COM/ 123order (remove spaces, and modify to go there), they order
from us (we do all the accounting and maintaining of the account) and we split
our commission 50/50!
If you are a stay at
home mom, a small ad or graphic design business, photographer, or have a
similar situation, this could be an awesome way to make great weekly money. See
the details!
MyImprintRep DOT COM/
promofinder5050
We are looking for
qualified people in your area. Reply today!
Highlighted in yellow are two “hidden” website addresses.
Now for the WEB TIP:
I want people to find “MyImprintRep DOT COM/ promofinder5050” when they
copy and paste this in the address bar of their web browser, so I actually use
that keyword phrase in my meta tag description; for that specific page.
For this particular website I’m using Yahoo Sitebuilder (to
find out this and my other suggested Website building platforms; another
question I’m often asked, please go to: www.terscott.com/createyourwebsite).
Here is a picture of the “back office” using Sitebuilder so
you can see what I’m adding in the Meta Tag area:
Note that I’ve included the “MyImprintRep DOT COM/
promofinder5050” under the “Keywords” area for that page.
Hope this helps someone today.
Make it a great one!

Publish Articles on the Internet to Direct Readers to Your Website
A great way to get traffic to your web site is by writing articles and placing your web address within the article for your readers to know about and visit your site.
There are many article places "out there" to do this, and I usually write for Squidoo and Hubpages. Hubpages is more strict on content, quality and not repeating the material on other sites and around the web. I don't mind this because I believe in "doing it right the first time". Once you have a quality piece published on Hubpages you can edit it in the future, but it stays there and generates ad revenue over the years.
Terrific. Energizing. Results!

The 3 Top KEYWORD DATA TOOLS
To find out what keywords are being used by people who are
seeking out what you are “putting out” which are your products, services,
information, etc. you can simply try to think like your customer, and even
survey your friends and customers. That’s just a start; you can do more. There
are tools out there to help.
There are many to choose from, and you can do a Google
search to find them. The 3 Top KEYWORD DATA TOOLS are Wordtracker, Keyword
Discovery (did you know about that one?), and Google AdWords keyword tool. I am
only going to touch on each of these and you can do your own research for more
information. Each can be a seminar in itself.
Wordtracker:
Shows searches from the past several months of a specific
term from search engines Dogpile and MetaCrawler. Remember that as a “curious
webber*” (my term)when you see something on the web that you don’t recognize,
as soon as you can, do a search and learn what it is. You may even want to save
your brief definitions and comments in a word document for future reference. Go
ahead now and do a quick web search for the terms: MetaCrawler, and Dogpile.
Make a note “action point” as to how you will use this knowledge in your web work.
Moving on with Wordtracker, it’s available for a fee at www.wordtracker.com. Try out the free
version until you are comfortable and have some revenue coming in to make the
fee worthwhile. It’s at:
I’ll write a bit about both Keyword Discovery and Google
AdWords in a future post.
PS. If you shop online, check out this great comparison shopping site. You actually earn cash back when you shop and you can shop at different name brand stores using one check out. The first time, you'll need to register and after that, you are in! No worries about privacy and that stuff, it's safe. Here's probably the best site on the Internet: www.scottshopping.com.

Are you using META TAGS, and using them correctly?
I was updating a page on my personal promotional site,
specifically the page: www.terscott.com/speaker
and I wanted to add some viable key
words in my Meta tags so the search engines could find it easily and lead
visitors to it who might be interested in booking my speaking services.
Just know that when you look "inside" and view the source code, that after it shows <meta name: "keywords", that there are none there! Wow, a big let down, expecially with a big company that could be getting more hits with just this one simple thing and they probably don't even know it!
Now here's an example of a better use of Meta tags; because they
actually have some! Sure, one could always get in here and modify this to make it better but at least they have them:
I know that this may not show clearly, but just know that all of the type in blue are good meta tags.
(By the way, you can
get a “Finder’s Fee” for any lead that results in a paid booking. CLICK HERE
for details). Now back to our regularly scheduled program; that of learning
to get visitors to your site.
I’m an advocate for “not re-inventing the wheel” but also “not
copying”, so when I wanted some suggestions
for Meta tags that are working for companies with a website offering services
similar to mine; that of public speaking, I searched for the bigger and most successful ‘”training”
companies. So, of course I looked at the first companies listed, which means
these people paid to be listed in that position (these are paid listings not an
“organic” listing which is created by popularity, good content, the right key
words, and Meta tags).
What I found surprised me so much, that I thought I’d share
it with my visitors to this Web Tips Blog. What I will share here may
surprise you and like many of the tips I share, usually knowing and using just
one or two will more than pay the price of my Website Design Power and High Octane Traffic Secrets System at the
right of this page; get it if you haven’t already done so! (The price will go
up and the bonuses will be removed as more people get the system and my time to
offer consulting is limited).
One of the tips in the Website Design Power and High Octane Traffic
Secrets System is that you need to use appropriate key words in your Meta tags
for your site.
This really isn’t an ad for my system, so if you don’t know
what Meta Tags are, you can Google “Meta tags” on your own, but for now, I’ll
tell you that they are simply the words you add to your site that describe what
it is to the search robots so they know how and where to rank your site so when
people look for those terms on the internet, they find you! For most readers
this would probably be the job of the “web wizard”; the person who manages your
site. So with the following information, implement it yourself or teach your
web wizard something.
Two things to
remember about Meta tags:
I speak here about two concerns, or situations, in
considering what key words to use in your Meta tags, also for paragraph and
blog entry titles, and captions for your photos (because search robots and
spiders consider all of those; not just the Meta tag words).
The first thing to remember is that we always need to put ourselves
in the shoes of the person who needs and searches for our product or service. Just
as we do with our “offline” marketing, we also do with “online” marketing: “To
sell John Jones buys, we need to see through John Jones’ eyes”.
Let’s say someone is traveling, and has car trouble. He or
she would not look in the yellow pages for Joe’s Garage (if that is your
business and website), because being new to the area, he or she does not know
that Joe or his garage even exists. This stranded motorist might look in a
phone book using terms like: garage, auto mechanic and car repair. Today with a
Smartphone or desktop computer, when using the search engines one might use all
of those, but being more specific, one might use key words such as car trouble;
fix my car, and flat tire. So you, the website owner and wizard might use all
of those and also add the local area within your word usage such as “fix my car
Duluth MN” for example.
Go ahead, copy any of those words and place them in any
search engine of choice, Google, Yahoo, or Bing. Or, simply place them into
your address bar and see what listings show up. What did you find? OK, then;
use this information in thinking of words and key word phrases for your Meta
tags, and also for the titles on you webpage or blog.
The second thing to remember in thinking of and using words
for your Meta tags is to get the visitors who who have heard of you and your
business so they may actually use your company name in the search engine. Sometimes
they might not remember your name correctly or in total (Jill’s, Joes, or Julie’s
Garage), they may think it’s spelled differently or have “fat fingers” (it’s
OK, that’s a real term. Go to www.fatfingers.com
if you don’t believe me; it’s a great tool also). With this all being the case,
consider adding your name, city location, and even a misspelling within your
list of Meta tags.
Now, here is the big surprise that I told you that I would share with
you at the beginning of the communication. Are you ready? Here’s what I found when
I searched other websites that were similar to mine so I could get suggestions
to use on my web page’s Meta tags. Again, are you ready?
Nothing!
Yes, nothing. Several sites (and I’m sure I can find
zillions of others if I wanted to waste my time) had nothing for Meta tags.
What are they (or their web wizards) thinking? They did not err by having the
wrong key words, or by not using their business name and location, but they
actually had nothing for the search robots and spiders to munch on and spit out
to show the world of prospects for their product and service, that “we are open
for business, come in and buy”.
Here’s one example of a bad Meta tags usage; none given:
Oops! I realized that I can't show it to you because it shows their web address and I don't want them to see that I'm "picking" on them.
Can you see the difference? I'm not bragging; who knows if these are the "right" keywords; time will tell, but at least I have them!!!
HINT: The way to find the Meta tags used by a website is to right
click with your mouse anywhere on the site and click on “view source”. This
opens a page with a whole lot of mumble jumbo, or Greek, or Geek; whatever you
prefer. No worries. You can choose to go to school and become a webmaster and
understand the details or just find where it shows you “Meta tags”. See what’s
listed and how you might use similar or some of the same key words for your web
page.
I hope you found this post helpful and that you’ll go now to
your web pages and make these modifications and additions. I know it is a bit
of work, but you pretty much only have to do it once with maybe minor tweaks in
the future and it will pay off, believe me. If you haven’t gotten the Website
Design Power and High Octane Traffic Secrets System yet, you are really missing
out. The first few orders receive consultation from me via email, sweet!
Make it a great day!

PS. I'm thinking of creating a subscription based service that for just $7 a month, I will review websites. Any subscriber can have me evaluate their site (optional) but will learn as I evaluate others and I will feature a website that I think is done well (I will offer evaluation here too) but I will interview the creator of the site so readers can get tips and ideas from the experience. Interested? Let me know by your comment below or contact me via the Contact Us page at www.terscott.com. I'll need at least 100 plus subscribers before I can do this, so let me know soon.

Craigslist Ad, Webpage and Blog Post is a 3-Way Marketing Punch!
When I do something on the web, if I think it will help
my web tips followers, I usually take note, and then present it here for my
readers. I learned from one of my Internet gurus (Tom Antion for one) that when
we create “products” we should always be thinking of the “next move” and how
this one product can become “many”. With slight changes and modifications, this
same product can be something else, to someone else. In the same way, I think
of different marketing venues as products.
Craigslist Ad, Webpage and Blog Post is a 3-Way Marketing Punch!
Before I present the steps I used here, let me first back
up
and explain what I was doing.
I was creating a Craigslist ad for a product that is available
through my Shop.com site: www.scottshopping.com.
It’s a Market America site that I have been affiliated with for over 10 years
as an Unfranchised Business Owner ™. It’s a great site, much like the big guys:
eBay, Amazon, and others. Check it out when you have time.
The product is a weight loss product accompanied with an
entire system that makes it successful; as a lifestyle, not simply a diet
program.
So as I always do, while composing this CL ad, I’m
thinking that I really do need a squeezepage that I can direct these interested
CL viewers.
Following is the short CL ad with the link to my webpage:
Lose Weight, Look Great with
TLS
TLS is now online in Duluth
MN. We are looking for 10 people in the Twin Ports area who want to lose
weight, and look great. Forget the weight loss roller coaster with the TLS
weight solution. Why does this work? It’s not a diet; it’s a lifestyle. You don’t
have to be “overweight” to see results!
Currently everything is
online so you’ll do everything in your home using your computer. If you
currently don’t have a computer, you may go to the library and use it, or we
will connect you with a local team member. You will purchase the system online
(either in whole or in part). The main thing is that you need to take the first
step and see what we’re about.
Later, those who are
successful as a customer of the product, have had a positive experience and
have an interest in pursuing income options, may be interested in becoming a
member of our team. Success builds on success and being a product of the
product is the first step.
There are no limits with
TLS; only those you place on yourself. It’s about education and implementation,
not limitation.
Here’s what we offer:
·
A great plan.
·
Weight loss supplements/accelerators
·
Website and mobile app
·
Follow others as you progress on twitter and
facebook
Take the first step; get the
information: www.terscott.com/tls
So I created the webpage (www.terscott.com/tls) on my current site.
(When you do this, consider a separate website for your squeeze page; typically
you’ll get better rankings in the search engines).
Now I have both a CL ad with a webpage to direct the
interested parties. But wait, there’s more.
You know that I’m the “Man of 100 Blogs” right? Yep, I
have a blog dedicated to Market America Products and Services. It’s called Market
America and Beyond, because we are in many different countries. The address is:
http://nowallmall.blogspot.com/ because
it is often referred to as “The Mall Without Walls”. So of course I simply
edited my CL ad a bit and used it as a post with a link to: www.terscott.com/tls.
I saved all of my content in a word document so I can
easily edit, and copy and paste into other advertising venues; even a simple
flyer to post in a Laundromat!
The next time you are composing an ad for Craigslist or anywhere
else, consider using it again with a few changes to be appropriate. Now you
know how you can use a Craigslist ad, edit and modify it to be used for your
webpage/squeeze page, and also as a blog post.
Make it a great day!

Ter Scott Promotes Response-o-matic Form Creator
I use several types of feedback forms on my sites (I
currently own and manage 3 major websites and 100 blogs) from different sources.
Today I’ll speak briefly about Response-o-matic. You can see an example at one
of my sites: www.myimprintrep.com/123order.
I would like Response-o-matic to have an affiliate program because
I always like to earn a few pennies for my promotional efforts in making my
readers aware of great sites like this one, but I wasn’t able to find that they
offer one. But I think they are just super so I’m sharing this with you anyway!
I’m only using the FREE form option for now, to see how it
works. Once this starts to generate revenue, I may move up to the “professional”
option, which removes the ads that my visitors see and gets me more than the
one form.
I have a very easy 3 step method in selling Imprinted
Promotional Products at www.myimprintrep.com/123order.
Visitors like things done easily, quickly and done correctly. I offer over 1
Million imprinted items as a partner with Newton Manufacturing. Visitors
complete the Response-o-matic form; I call them and get their order on its way.
Simple!
Try it out for yourself. Complete the form at www.myimprintrep.com/123order and
order a promotional product for your business. I will refund you 5% off the
base price of any regularly price item (we offer the lowest pricing on BIC pens
in the world)! Get 10% off the base price of any regularly price item on your second
order when a business referral has made a purchase using the same form.
Response-o-matic makes creating and using email forms easy
and it looks great. Since I have used similar forms, I was able to complete
this one in a short time, and copy and paste the html code into my site and it
was up on the web and looking great. I tested it and got a notice in my email.
As always, leave your comments and questions after this
post.
Make it a great day!
PS. Click here to go to Response-o-matic form creator. And
if you “contact them” please let them know that Ter Scott sent ya!

Are You Out There?
Today's post is also highlighted as a Squidoo article at: http://www.squidoo.com/simple-seo-technique-are-you-out-there. Please click the link, go there, and leave a positive comment; it's appreciated!
Are You Out There?
How to do a “Search for You, Your
Business or Website” and What I Found When I Did.
I recently went to my computer, typed in: “Ter Scott Amazon”
into the address bar thinking that I would pull up my listing showing my Amazon
reviews. It did, but what I found …
We should always be checking to see how we are ranking in
the search engines and how the listing reads so we’ll know what the “searcher”
of our products and services is seeing and make necessary changes. This is the
full time job for the SEO person, but we can do a few simple things from time
to time. Here’s just one thing I did, what I saw, and what I changed.
I recently went to my computer, typed in: “Ter Scott Amazon”
into the address bar thinking that I would pull up my listing showing my Amazon
reviews. It did, but what I found was also a listing for my own “revamped” www.terscott.com site.
If you’ve been to the in-class or online version of my “Website
Design and High Octane Traffic Secrets” you know that I’m constantly
improving it. But I was amazed just how fast it was updated on the web. Plus, I
did not submit the changes to any search engine directories; it was found by
the search robots on their own. Following are a few deductions and an action
point. I’m sharing this here for others to learn by.
1.
Do a manual word search for your business name,
and use it as part of a key word phrase that uses about what you do. For
instance, when I want to know if I and my marketing consulting shows up in my
local area (as if someone who wants me and my service is doing a search) I
might use “Ter Scott consulting duluth mn”. Here I used “Ter Scott Amazon”.
2.
Change up your content from time to time; refresh
it making it interesting to both search robots and humans.
3.
It’s not “necessary” to always have to submit
your site to the search engine directories; let them find you.
4.
Use what you find as shown in the description of
your search listing and if is not what you want to be there make changes.
My action point is to do number 3 above.
Since what the search engines are showing changes over time,
sometimes in just days, I am making note of what I used for a key word or key
word phrase (TIP: You should save your most used key words and phrases in a
word document so you can simply copy and paste into a search engine without
having to always try to remember them each time you do a test such as this).
If you’d like, you may follow along here and I’ll show you
exactly what did, saw and modified on my site to hopefully see (and more
importantly, others will see) a different result in the future.
First I typed the phrase: “ter scott amazon” directly into
the address bar; no opening Google, Bing or Yahoo and typing it; it went into
the address bar. Here’s what I saw.
OK, I did NOT see this. Now I remember. I entered “ter scott
amazon” into the search bar on a computer of a client. Their computer defaults
to Bing for the search engine. As shown above, I use Google as my computer’s
default search engine. I will have to open “Bing” search engine and hopefully
be able to show you what I found earlier.
Yes, there it is. So the first listing is actually my Amazon
profile which is appropriate. The second listing shows the first page of my
personal website and I am not “happy” with what is being shown. I need to
change the position as to where I have “typed” information shown on my website so
the robots read and then display things which will make better sense to the
reader of this listing (Ter Scott offers packaged or ala carte “what”) and change
the wording about my marketing tips copy.
Here’s what the web page looks like.
Here’s what the web page looks like.
In the grey box that holds the navigation buttons (which the
robots either don’t “see” or really care about) starts with the typed line: “Ter
Scott offers…”. I need to shorten that sentence so the important information
gets shown in Bing’s description. Since the navigation bars show on most of the
pages on my site, I need to be totally sure that I want to make these changes, because
it is much work changing so many pages.
Secondly, the content (copy/wording) in the green box about
the Free Marketing Tips really isn’t presented to bad in the Bing description.
Wait a minute, what’s this? My wording is: Register for FREE MARKETING TIPS
LETTER, etc. But, the description shown in Bing’s is: “MARKETING TIPS LETTER…” Very
interesting! I think I will only change the wording in the grey Navigation Box
and leave this alone. Visit the first page of my site: www.terscott.com and see how I changed the
wording and stay tuned; I’ll let you know how this slight change affects my
Bing listing soon.
Make it a great day!
